Venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero questions whether the authorities are still looking for the masterminds after an explosion occurs in another location in the country.
The Venerable stated that although people have died due to such terrorist incidents in many countries around the world, he has not seen religious groups or the Catholic Church in those countries come forward and take action to find the masterminds.
He acknowledged that if there is any doubt about the attack, it should be investigated according to the relevant legal procedures, but he also said that it is a serious unfortunate situation that no responsible official is interested in the true facts he is presenting to the country and the deep theoretical dimension here.
Meanwhile, Gnanasara Thero says that the ideological and theoretical school created by Saharan Hashim and others who launched a series of suicide attacks on Easter Sunday is still freely circulating in society and delivering sermons without any danger.
The Venerable Thera points out that the fact that Islamist ideologies are currently thriving within the state structure in a way that has not happened in the past few decades is a great tragedy that darkens the future of the country.
Gnanasara Thero emphasized that banned organizations and individuals, such as Hajjul Akbarla, who misled children that the world should be governed by Islamic Sharia law, continue to deliver public lectures today.
Moreover, the Venerable says that Ijtima workshops have been organized in areas such as Puttalam and Mawella targeting children who have completed their Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations, and that since the Saharans first developed in Kattankudy in such a background, immediate attention should be paid to this matter.
Gnanasara Thero stated that although he has written to the President, Prime Minister, Speaker and Defense Secretary requesting an opportunity for discussion regarding the current security situation and the dangerous background in the country, he has not received a response from any authority to date.
“What is this misfortune that is going to happen to our country? Should we still look for a mastermind after another explosion somewhere else? People have died due to such incidents in many countries of the world. But we have not seen religious groups or the Catholic Church in those countries come and look for masterminds. I am not saying that if there is any doubt about this, do not look for it, look for it in the appropriate way. But why is none of these officials interested in the truth and this deep dimension that we are showing?”
